18. Pixie bob

This pixie cut is famously worn for accentuating the cheeks of little girls. The soft fringes of the cut can be left on the forehead or side swept like bangs. It can also be styled with clips and ponies.

19. Shortcuts for wavy hair

Mothers whose little girls have naturally wavy hair have an advantage on this pixie cut as this cut self-styles itself according to the waves of the hair. This cut also gives a slightly longer length on one side of the head.

20. Vintage bob cut

pixie cut with vintage bob

This haircut dates back in time and is now back as a top priority for little girls. The vintage bob pixie cut enhances the face shape of the little girl.

The hair is cut in a different manner than the rest of the bob cuts. At the back of the head, the lower half is shaved while the top half is part of the bob. Back in the days, this used to be known as the bowl cut.

We hope that our collection of little girl pixie cuts will inspire you to do your daughter’s next hairstyle. So take your pick!

Tips for Choosing Suitable Pixie Cut for Your Little Girl

 • When choosing a pixie style for your little girl make sure to speak with your stylist and make sure the style will suit your child and what time frame you would need to style it.
 • Make sure you have the right styling products for whatever pixie style you pick, for example, gel, mousse, wax, or just a blowout aid.
 • Ask your stylist to show you how to style the specific hairstyle if you don’t have extensive knowledge on how to do it.

Creating layers, when she has soft waves and curls is one of the ideas, as it will build more volume and create a shape.

#7. Twisted Bob Braids

#9. Wavy Bob with Headband

When hair is shortly trimmed, those waves will look tightened and bouncier. Moreover, when your hair has more length, it becomes heavier so those locks will lose their wavy shape.

#10. Layered Bob

2. Bun with Afro Curls

3. Thin Braided Ponytail

8 year old black girl braided ponytail hairstyle

Lots of thin braids make any hairstyle look thicker. Secure some braids right at the ends and leave others with an inch or two of unbraided length at the ends. Gather all the braids into a ponytail with a colorful scrunchie!

4. Highlighted Curly Hair

8 year old black girl hairstyle with highlights

If there’s any part of the hair world little Black girls should be introduced to right away, it’s hair color. These beautiful caramel highlights will accentuate her curly hair.

5. Middle Parted Twists

8 year old black girl twist hairstyle

Medium-sized twists are a great hairstyle choice for 8-year-old girls who are active and on the go. Style these into a short bob with a middle part, the perfect length for flaunting spiraled ends.

6. Dreadlock Half Updo

8. Braided Half Ponytail

When your little girl learns how to braid, she’ll be quite happy to make her own braided ponytail. We love how easily a short haircut can be dressed up just by braiding the top half at the side.

9. Fishtail Braid

12. Straight Hair with Thin Braids

13. Long Curls with Side Part

8 year old black girl long hairstyle

Enhance the naturally curly texture on 8-year-old Black girls with long hair by scrunching in a little curl cream. This style will be easy for her to do on her own since it only needs a side part to be complete!

14. Side Cornrow Braids

8 year old black girl with cornrow braids

Instead of making your cornrow braids go straight back from the hairline, start at one side of the head and wind them over to the opposite side. Use colorful rubber bands to secure each braid at the end.

15. Short Curly Hair with Bangs

8 year old black girl with curly bangs

If your little girl is hating her thick hair, make it a cinch to style by having short layers added for shape. Add some shorter pieces around the forehead that can be arranged like bangs or pinned back to get them out of the way.

16. Bantu Knots with Color

8 year old black girl with bantu knots

As if Bantu knots weren’t already a unique Black hairstyle, make them even better by adding color. These dark blue extensions are a great way for young girls to express themselves, as are the gold hair cuffs.

17. Afro Puff

8 year old black girl with afro puff hairstyle

Afro puffs are basically a smaller version of an afro, which makes them a nice understated option for 8-year-old Black girls. Plus, it doesn’t need to be sleek or frizz-free to be super cute!

18. Low Ponytail with Middle Part

8 year old black girl with ponytail

After working some smoothing curl cream into the hair, part it in the middle and gather it in a low ponytail. It can be styled with or without the thin braids that start halfway back from the hairline.

19. Flowered Space Buns

8 year old black girl with space buns hairstyle

20. Curly Brown Afro

8 year old black girl with brown afro hair

For 8-year-old Black girls whose brown hair is already lusciously thick, make it look its most gorgeous by styling it into a fashionable afro. Blowing out the curls will create these soft waves.

21. Short Curly Twists

8 year old black girl with short curly hairstyle

Create a trendy short hairstyle for little girls without sacrificing curly texture. These short layered twists feature beautifully curled ends that are front and center in a slicked-back half ponytail.

22. Box Braid Half Updo

Box braids are among the most versatile Black hairstyles. They can be personalized with different lengths, colors, and sizes. Style long medium-sized box braids into an easy low half ponytail.

Any of these hairstyles would be a beautiful choice for 8-year-old Black girls. And with so many ways to customize hairstyles these days, the looks above are easy for little girls to rock in their own way.

Whether it’s with fun hair color extensions, extra long box braids, interesting shapes, or colorful hair accessories – work your way down the list to try them all!

7. Pinned Back

8. Twisted Ponytails

Black moms can tame unruly tresses of their little ones by opting for these mini twists. Secure the ends to prevent any unwinding while the front chunks fall on the forehead like bangs.

14. Havana Twists + Pigtails

15. Long Rope Twists

19. Thick Medium Braids

Nowadays many mothers like to style thick braids for their little black girls. The kid in this pic looks beautiful with these medium braids. And for the little school going black girls, this haircut gives an appealing effect.

20. Multicolored Braids for School Girls

For a more exceptional look, you can opt to put some hue on the black braids. Create some thick braids and add a decoration of droplets on them. Similarly, you can shade the braids by the edges. Feels great, huh? Don’t wait, rock it!

21. French-Braided Hair for Little Black Girls

If your little girl has long thick hair, follow the braided route and give a shot to this tight French braid that cascades to the back. This keeps her long tresses away from her face while still looking beautiful at the same time.

22. Half Bun for Little Black Girls

You cannot talk about beautiful little black girl hairstyles for school and not bring up the idea of buns. Little black girls with adorable natural hair can wear the bunned haircuts like no other.

23. Braided and Bunned Hairstyles for Little Black Girls

Who said braided hairstyles should always be confined into French-braided pigtails? You can go a different route and create small, weaving cornrows that extend along the hairline while circling two beautiful pigtails. It is an unexpected look that will make your little girl unique at school.

24. Adorable Side Cornrows and Kinky Twists

If your little girl can hold still for more than ten minutes, don’t let that opportunity slip off. Style this beautiful side-swept hair for her. Begin styling the cornrows at the side of her head, and complete them with kinky twists.

Besides you can style the loose trimmings into a bun or allow them to hang freely. Either way, she will rock a gorgeous and enjoyable style.

25. Black Criss-Cross Updo

26. Little Girls Braids with Beads

Little braids just not fancy enough? How about adding some accessories to the little girl’s look? The bonus point for this cute black kid’s hairstyles is that they get to choose the bead colors that they prefer – that’s some personalization right there!

27. Pigtails

White girls have their pigtails – why can’t black girls have theirs too? This is one of the school haircuts for black little girls that can make them look adorable and help them to mingle in with the other kids at the same time – who wouldn’t want to know a girl with such a cute hairdo?

28. Natural & Free

Natural is cute too! Leave your child’s hair wild and free with just the help of some hair oil to heep the frizzy hair ends in check.

29. Top it with a Hat

Here’s one easy tip for kid hairstyles: leave the dreadlocks be. You don’t need to go to lengths to style dreadlocks when they are already a unique style on their own. Just wear a nice beanie on top and you’re all good to go.

30. Braided Space Buns

little black girl school hairstyles

Want one of the unique school haircuts ? This should be a perfect choice! You might want to head to a hairdresser for a hairstyle like this one unless you have the skills and knowledge on how to get this look.

31. Kids Braided Ponytail

You might have noticed by now that many school hairstyles in this list involve really organized braids. However, there’s more to it in this hairstyle – whoever the hairdresser is, they made sure that the hairbands and beads are going to look perfect too!

32. Big Braids

If the smaller, finer braids are not for you, you can just tie bigger and fewer braids for your kid. Bigger braids take much less time to style, and you need fewer accessories too! Simply put it, there are no downsides to these bigger braids.

33. Patterned Braids

That’s probably as far as little black girls hairstyles go. As creative as school hairstyles are, there can only be so many ways to wear braids, and this is one of those which will need a lot of time and effort to create – the hair parting, braiding and decorating with beads is a lot of work!

34. Little Girl Mohawk

35. Wild Afro

afro hairstyles for little black girls

This is as natural as black kid hairstyles get. Keep it all-natural and free with an afro kept short. You can keep the hair a little longer if your hair texture is easy to manage, but otherwise, your hair would be much easier to deal with at a shorter length.

The post Is It Safe to Dye Children’s Hair? The Dangers You Must Consider appeared first on Hairstyle Camp.

]]>
If your child is creative and loves to have fun with their wardrobe and personal style, no doubt they have asked you at one point or another if they can dye their hair.

Of course, you don’t want to stifle their creativity, and you would love to earn some cool points, but it’s also important to consider the dangers of dyeing your child’s hair.

There are so many contrasting opinions on dyeing children’s hair. Some feel that dyeing children’s hair poses no additional risks than that of dyeing adults’ hair. Others feel that no child under a certain age should have their hair dyed. This article quotes reputable sources so that you can be accurately informed about the risks of dyeing your child’s hair.

In this article, we will discuss two main dangers of dyeing children’s hair. After reading the information below, you will be able to make an informed decision on whether or not to dye your own child’s hair.

Dangers of Dyeing Children’s Hair

Hair Dye Can Cause Severe Reactions in Children

effects of hair dye on kids - allergy

According to an article published by BBC News,

“Hair dyes contain chemicals that in rare cases can cause severe, even life-threatening, allergic reactions.”

BBC News

The National Capital Poison Center backs up these claims, stating that even if hair dye is used properly, it can cause allergic reactions. It states:

Up to 25 different ingredients in hair dyes can cause harmful skin effects. Contact with skin can cause irritation including redness, sores, itching, and burning. Occasionally, allergic reactions occur and involve swelling of the face and neck that causes difficulty breathing.

– National Capital Poison Center

If adults can have serious allergic reactions to hair dye, you can be sure that children, who have more sensitive scalps, are even more susceptible to these allergic reactions. This is why, according to the above-quoted article on BBC News,

“Hair dye manufacturers say they are not intended for anyone under the age of 16. The European Commission insists that this warning should be put on all hair dye packaging.”

– BBC NEWS

It is clear that, if the manufacturers of the hair dye state that it is unsafe for children under 16, we should take this precaution seriously.

What if My Child Doesn’t Have Any Known Allergies?

Even if your child doesn’t have any known allergies, they could still be allergic to any one of the numerous chemicals present in hair dye. If they have never been directly exposed to hair dye, you can’t know for sure that they are not allergic to any of its ingredients.

What if I Protect My Child’s Scalp and Only Use the Dye on Their Hair?

If you are certain that your child is not allergic to the hair dye you are going to use, (this can only be determined by doing a spot check on their skin), still be wary. You may be confident that, by using a scalp barrier like Vaseline, you will ensure that they don’t experience any negative side effects.

This may be true in some cases, so it is up to your judgment as the parent. However, keep in mind that prolonged and frequent exposure to chemicals can cause allergies to develop over time.

Hair Dye Can Damage Children’s Hair

hair dye damage for kids

The National Capital Poison Center states that “Permanent dyes cause chemical changes that increase the penetration of the product into the hair, bleach the natural melanin, and create color molecules that get trapped inside the shaft. These chemical changes can damage the hair.”

This is true of adults, but even more so for children. Because children tend to have finer and more delicate hair, their hair is more easily damaged.

When you apply chemical dye to hair, it opens the cuticle of the hair, and deposits color. Some types of dye can also penetrate into the core of the hair and lift color out of it.

Either way, chemical hair dye has to penetrate through the cuticle of the hair, which can cause dryness, breakage, and excess frizz. For a child with delicate, fine hair, applying chemical dye to their hair could damage it beyond repair.

Keep in mind that children’s hair also changes drastically during childhood and adolescence. It may change color, density, and even texture. Rather than altering the chemistry of their hair further by putting dye on it, it is simply best to allow their hair to develop and change naturally.

Are All Hair Dyes Bad for My Child’s Hair?

Permanent hair color and bleach are especially damaging to hair, because they penetrate into the core of the hair and alter its chemistry. Demi-permanent colors are slightly less damaging, but they still open the cuticle of the hair and cause some damage.

The least damaging type of hair dye would be temporary dyes that wash out after one use. These simply coat the hair and do not open the cuticle of the hair or chemically alter it.

What Hair Dyes Are Safe to Use on My Child’s Hair?

safe hair dyes for children

There are plenty of fun alternatives to chemical dyes when it comes to dyeing your child’s hair. All of these alternatives are temporary, which is honestly great for kids because as we all know, they change their minds frequently.

With these options, you will be able to promote your child’s creativity without putting their health and hair at risk.

 1. Hair Chalk: Add some vibrant, temporary streaks to your kid’s hair with this powdery hair color.
 1. Hair Color Spray: Hair color spray is easy, fun, and perfect for “crazy hair day” at school. Just make sure to apply it in a ventilated area.
 1. Colorful Clip-In Extensions: Vibrant clip-in extension pieces are a great option to add color to your child’s hair without the messy cleanup.

In Summary

Although dyeing your kid’s hair may seem like a fun experience, and can earn you some cool parent points, it is important to be aware of the dangers associated with dyeing children’s hair. The chemicals in hair dye can damage their hair and even cause severe allergic reactions.

That is why it’s best to use a fun temporary color! Trust me, you will still earn the cool points, but this way, you will be protecting your child from unneeded discomfort, and giving yourself peace of mind.

Key Things to Know:

 • Hair dye can cause severe allergic reactions, especially in children, because they have more sensitive skin and scalps.
 • Hair salons should not dye a child’s hair if they are under the age of 16.
 • Children’s hair is more susceptible to damage, and therefore it can be severely damaged by the chemicals in hair dye.
 • To temporarily dye your child’s hair, use hair chalk, hair color spray, or colorful clip-in hair extensions.

As we know, hair comes in all textures from straight to kinky and everything in between. If your kid has “textured hair” or curly hair, you know that it can be a struggle to manage. But with the proper care, your child can rock their natural texture!

I cannot stress enough how important it is to care for your child’s textured hair. The care you put into their hair can affect their confidence, not only in this stage of their life, but into adulthood.

They should know that their natural curls are beautiful and manageable, and they will only learn this if you teach them.

By putting in a little extra effort and care into their haircare routine, you can make a big difference in your child’s life. They may not appreciate it now, but they will thank you in the future!

How to Manage Kid’s Textured Hair

I’ll discuss the 6 main elements of managing and taking care of your kid’s textured hair: Shampooing, Moisturizing, Detangling, Trimming, Styling, and Protecting.

Of course, within the classification of “textured” hair, there are many variations, so this article will discuss different suggestions for a variety of textures.

Shampooing

tip to care for kid's textured hair - shampooing

Shampooing your kid’s hair thoroughly may present a bit of a challenge, but it is an important step in caring for their curls.

Why is this important?

Shampooing your kid’s textured hair properly is the basis for healthy hair and scalp. It removes buildup from product, dirt, and other substances and also prepares the hair and scalp to absorb moisture from the conditioner.

Tips for Shampooing:

 • Completely saturate the hair and scalp with warm water before applying shampoo.
 • If you can, try only to shampoo every other day to avoid stripping the hair of natural oils. If your child’s hair is disheveled or in need of a rinse in between shampoos, simply rinse it with a little conditioner.
 • To completely clean the hair, it’s recommended that you shampoo at least twice. The first shampoo will help break down or remove buildup, and the second will fully clean the hair. You want to build a good lather. Sometimes, this can take even more than two times to achieve.
 • Make sure to massage your kid’s scalp with the shampoo so that you are cleaning not only their hair, but their scalp as well.
 • If your child’s textured hair is extremely thick, you will need to put special attention into cleaning their scalp. You want to ensure that the shampoo reaches their scalp and that you are really cleaning the scalp along with the hair. This is very important because if you are not properly cleaning your child’s scalp, they can develop buildup, matting, and skin irritations.

Moisturizing

tip to care for kid's textured hair - proper moisturization

Curly hair textures tend to need more moisture than straight hair, especially if you live in a dryer climate. Moisturizing your kid’s textured hair is another important step in caring for their curls.

Why is this important?

Neglecting to properly moisturize curly hair can create frizz and make it even more difficult to detangle. Over time, a lack of moisture can damage the hair and make it unmanageable. It is therefore an essential part of any curly hair routine!

Tips for Moisturizing:

 • Always condition curly hair after shampooing, even if the shampoo has moisturizing properties.
 • Let the conditioner sit in your kid’s hair for a few minutes if possible. They can enjoy playing in the bath while their conditioner is soaking in!
 • If your child has thinner or looser curls that get weighed down easily, try using a lightweight conditioner and applying it to the middle and ends of the hair, rather than directly on the scalp.
 • If your child has thick, coarse, or tight curls, you may need to condition the hair section by section and comb the conditioner through the hair with a wide toothed comb. I also recommend that you let the conditioner soak into their hair for at least 10 minutes if possible.
 • Rinse out the conditioner with fresh water (not used bath water). You can also use cooler water, as this will help seal the conditioner into the hair.
 • Apply a leave-in conditioner after you have gently towel-dried your child’s hair. If your kid has softer or thinner curls, a light leave-in conditioner or a moisturizing curl cream will do the trick. If your child has coarser or tighter curls, you can apply a heavier leave-in conditioner to each section of their hair.

Detangling

how to care for kid's textured hair - detangling with wide tooth comb

The very word “detangling” may send shivers down your spine if you have a curly-headed kid. We all know that trying to detangle any kid’s hair is a battle, but this is especially true when your child has textured hair. Here are a few tips to make it easier. But first, why is it so important to detangle regularly?

Why is this important?

It could be said that detangling your child’s textured hair is the most important part of caring for their curls. If tangles are left in the hair, over time the hair will begin to matt, and it will be extremely difficult to remove the matting. Teaching your kid how to detangle their hair will help them immensely in the present and in the future.

Tips for Detangling:

 • Detangle with a wide-toothed comb or a detangling brush. You may need to experiment to see which one works better for your child’s hair.
 • No matter the specific texture of your kid’s hair, it is important to start detangling from the ends of their hair and working up to the roots. This will allow you to hold the hair as you detangle the ends, thereby causing less discomfort.
 • If your kid has looser curls or fine/smoother hair, you may be able to detangle their hair while the conditioner is still in it. Let the conditioner soak into the hair for a few minutes and then detangle.
 • If your child’s hair tends to shrink and matt up when shampooed, it is essential to detangle before shampooing. This is usually the case for tightly curled hair that is coarser. In that case, detangle the hair section by section before shampooing. You will need to spritz each section with a bit of water and add conditioner or a detangler. Then brush or comb from the ends up to the roots. You will still need to condition the hair again after shampooing.
 • Start brushing or combing your child’s hair from infancy so that they can become accustomed to the feeling. This can make detangling a bit less chaotic when their hair begins to grow longer and thicker.
 • Be as gentle as possible, but don’t skip corners. Detangling your kid’s textured hair can be painful for them (and for you) if they have a sensitive scalp, so try to be as gentle as possible, taking it section by section. That being said, it is important for you to fully detangle their hair, even if it takes multiple 5 minute sessions of hair combing.

Trimming

tip to care for kid's textured hair - regular trimming

Trimming your kid’s textured hair may not be the first thing that comes to mind, especially if you want to grow out their beautiful locks, but it is an essential part of caring for their curls.

Why is this important?

Trimming your child’s curly hair is important for its health, growth, and appearance. If your kid’s hair has too many split ends, it will become extremely difficult to detangle, moisturize, and style.

Split ends can be prevented to a certain degree, but they cannot be prevented entirely, and once a strand of hair has split, you can not repair it.

Contrary to what some may say, it is impossible to repair split ends with serums or moisturizers. They simply have to be cut off so that the hair doesn’t continue to split.

Tips for Trimming:

 • It is best to contact a stylist experienced in kids’ hair to schedule a trim for your child, but if this isn’t possible, it can be done at home.
 • When the ends of your kid’s hair become extra fuzzy/rough/thin, or you are having an extremely difficult time detangling the ends, even when the rest of the hair is detangled, it is time for a trim.
 • If you are trimming your child’s hair at home, it is best to do so after it has been detangled, shampooed, and conditioned. You can cut the hair dry or wet, but for tighter curls or coarser hair, I would recommend trimming it while it is wet/damp.
 • Make sure to trim the hair section by section.
 • It is important to trim the hair ABOVE the line of split ends. If you don’t completely remove the split end, it will continue to split. Therefore, trimming only a portion of the split ends will not benefit the hair.

Styling

tip to care for kid's textured hair - prtective styling

After your child’s hair is trimmed, shampooed, conditioned, and detangled, it is time for some styling! But don’t worry, styling doesn’t have to be complicated. It can be as simple or detailed as you would like.

Why is this important?

It is no secret that we all feel our best when our hair is styled. Your kid will look and feel their best if their hair is properly styled. Also, styling the hair can help to prevent excessive tangling, which will make everything much easier when it comes time for wash day.

Tips for Styling:

 • The key to a good style is making sure that the hair is moisturized first. Any curly hairstyle will look better if it is healthy and moisturized.
 • To style your kid’s hair so that it hangs naturally, apply a curl cream and/or gel after adding a leave-in moisturizer. You can comb it through the hair with your fingers or with a comb.
 • When combing in the product, it is best to comb away from the scalp, so that the curls aren’t stuck down to the scalp. Combing away from the scalp will create voluminous, bouncy curls.
 • If you are creating an updo or a braided style, do not style the hair when it is completely wet. As the hair dries, it will shrink, and if the hair is pulled tightly into an updo or braids, this could cause discomfort and hair breakage. Wait for the hair to dry partially or completely before attempting this kind of style.
 • If you will be using heat to straighten the hair, make sure to use a heat protectant. Heat protectants can come in the form of a cream or spray.
 • Seal in moisture with a light oil after the hair has fully dried. This will ensure that your kid’s textured hair stays moisturized and shiny.
 • Have fun! Make sure to ask your kid what styles they want to try so that they can be excited to get their hair styled.

Protecting

tips to protect kid's textured hair

Protecting your kid’s textured hair could be described as “aftercare” or “maintenance.” This step of caring for your child’s curls is an important part of their hair care routine.

Why is this important?

Protecting your kid’s hair in between washing or styling will make everyone’s life a bit easier. Just like anything else in life, small, concerted efforts will make a big difference. Protecting curly hair can make a huge difference in the amount of time needed to detangle it, or even cut down on the frequency of trims.

Tips for Protecting:

 • If your kid has tight curls and coarse hair, you can opt for a protective style to cut down on styling and detangling. Protective styles can include braids or twists.
 • If you opt for a protective style, make sure it is done in a way that won’t be damaging to the hair or scalp. If braids are too tight, they can cause hair loss and damage. If you are taking your child to a professional stylist to get their protective style, make sure that the stylist has a good reputation for maintaining the health of their clients’ hair and scalp.
 • Whether your child has a protective style or not, it is important to protect their hair during the night while they are sleeping. This can be done with a satin/silk bonnet or, if it is difficult for them to keep it on during the night, they can use a satin/silk pillowcase. This will create less friction for the hair, thereby helping minimize frizz and damage.
 • If your child swims in chlorinated pools, it is important to protect their hair from the damaging effects of chlorine. Of course, the best solution is to wear a swim cap, but if this is impractical, you can soak the hair with tap water before they enter the pool. Because their hair has already absorbed the less-chlorinated tap water, it will absorb less of the highly-chlorinated pool water. Make sure to thoroughly shampoo and condition their hair afterward.
 • Applying a light hair oil to your kid’s hair after styling can seal in moisture and serve as a protective barrier.

Summary

Even though textured/curly hair takes a bit more care, any effort you make is well worth it. By taking good care of your kid’s curls, you are boosting their confidence now, and equipping them with the tools and attitude they need to care for their own hair when the time comes. You can be sure that they will thank you for all the effort you put into their hair!

Key Things to Know

 • Shampooing your kid’s hair thoroughly will keep their scalp healthy and ensure that their hair can absorb the moisture from their conditioner.
 • Conditioning your child’s curls is essential for minimizing frizz and damage. Make sure to condition after shampooing, and apply a leave-in conditioner before styling.
 • Trimming is essential to keep your kid’s hair healthy. When the ends of their hair become unusually difficult to detangle, or become rough or fuzzy, it’s time for a trim.
 • If your kid’s curls are soft, fine, or loose, it may be better to detangle after it is shampooed while the conditioner is still in the hair.
 • If your kid’s curls are coarse and tight, you may need to detangle section by section before shampooing.
 • Protect your child’s hair while sleeping with a satin/silk hair bonnet or a satin/silk pillowcase.
 • Try to minimize exposure to chlorine by having your kid wear a swim cap or by saturating their hair with tap water before entering the pool.

Knotless braids are among the most beloved hairstyles for kids because they look natural and don’t create knots that cause scalp tension. So next time you plan to change your child’s hairdo, consider these knits.

Adorable Knotless Braids for Kids

Knotless braids allow you to extend hair and keep natural pieces protected from dust, sun, or other external factors.

Also, if your kids love some hair jewelry or decorations, now you will have the perfect canvas. Shape them in a bob, keep them long, curl the ends, make the braids thin or chunky; you have plenty of options.

Continue reading and check out right here the best knotless hairstyles for kids!

1. Box Braids with Beads

Knotless braids look gorgeous on small girls and young ladies of any age. Use hair extensions that have the same color as your child’s hair and attach them close to the scalp by adding hair right from the roots. Decorate the ends with translucent and white matte beads.

2. Braids with Curly Ends

Do a side part and braid the hair on each side, feeding in the braid with small pieces of hair extensions, so the braid will look as natural as possible. Don’t tie the ends and roll the tips on a rod that you will dip into hot water. This technique will help you achieve a curly end and more volume.

3. Top Rolled Bun

By using hair extensions when braiding your small princess’s hair, you will give the hair length, and the braid will look flawless. To get those curly ends, use the hot water technique and keep half of the braid straight. You can also use white pieces to build that highlighted aspect.

4. Multicolored Braids

If your little one loves a look that catches everyone’s attention, you definitely need some rainbow hair extensions. Go for knotless feed-in braids with pieces that have the same color as the natural hair and colored extensions. Get those curls for the ends by wrapping the tips on small rods that are dipped into hot water.

5. Braided Pony

To create that heart made to of knits on each side, you have to build feed in cornrow braids that you will guide and shape in that form. At the base, where the two braids meet, blend them into one knit. Use the rest of the braids to pull off a low top of the head ponytail. Decorate with teal green butterfly clip.

6. Yellow and Pink

If your girl has short black hair, use yellow and reddish-pink hair extensions to extend and protect it. Make the braids look layered, and use a head scarf or a headband to keep the front pieces away from the face.

7. Medium Box Braids

short knotless braids for kids
beverlyboots/Instagram

To style these knotless braids, you need to create great sectioning, preferably in the shape of a square. Feed in the braids as you knit and curl the ends. Cut the extensions into a medium bob, giving the hairstyle body and making it look natural and cute.

8. Thin Knotless Braids

small knotless braids for kids
thebraiderthatcares/Instagram

Part the hair in the middle and create very small sections so that the resulting braids will be thin. For some of the parts, you can add fuchsia extensions instead of natural-looking pieces. They will act as highlights, and your little one won’t need to bleach her hair starting from this young age.

9. Twisted Top Bun

boombasticbraids/Instagram

When you want to style thicker braids, but your natural hair is not as dense as you want, create square sections for which you will need a knot. Gather all the hair on top of the head and pin it down. Roll the ponytail into a big bun.

10. Bob Braids with Pink Beads

knotless braids for kids
stylesz_by_jrenee/Instagram

Before creating these knotless braids for kids, you will need to prep the hair. Do the sectioning, then, as handling each piece, add a jam that will make the part much more manageable. Once you finish, trim the braids, giving them a long bob haircut, and decorate each piece with red, pink, and translucent beads.

11. Ultra Curly Ends

If you want to keep your daughter’s hair tamed and protected from external factors, then protective knotless braids have all you need to be a successful and good-looking hairdo. You can even get highlights, curls, or more length; you only need to use some hair bundles when styling the braids.

12. Chunky Braids

Part the hair into even squares and use hair jam to tame those tresses and keep baby hairs altogether. To make them look this chunky, you will need to add extensions gradually. For the two front pieces, consider using some blue electric extensions. Braid the hair tightly, so hairs won’t stick out.

13. Beads and Butterflies

knotless braided updo for kids
braidsby_breezy/Instagram

Most young girls love a well-decorated hairstyle, and this is probably one of the best knotless braids you can choose for kids. Each braid is decorated with eight beads, using blue shades and nuances. Opt for dark navy, light and dark blue, and white beads that you’ll add at the tips. Some butterfly clips are also highly appreciated by a young lady.

14. Side Butterfly

knotless cornrow braids for kids
beauteparjay/Instagram

Side butterfly braid designs require knitting skills, so if you want it to look brilliant, take your daughter to a well reviewed salon. Also, consider decorating them with black, white, and translucent beads. For the top, you can opt for straight feed in cornrows, zig-zag, or snake shape patterns.

15. Two Ponytails

slay_babez/Instagram

Ponytails, curls, braids and long hair are probably the ingredients that all young girls crave when choosing a hairstyle. So curl the knits, get your daughter two high ponytails and wrap the ends on rods to gain that tight curl aspect.

Knotless braids for kids can be styled in diverse ways, with hair extensions, colored beads, and pieces, mingling multiple requests that your little one might love to have. These braids can challenge your child’s creativity and your stylists and will protect natural hair and make those tresses look perfect each day.
